the principles of genetics were relentless - i got my father's diabolic smile but i got my mother's troubled wrinkles as well and whenever i relished some of my father's damned spirit the storm of my mother's worries knocked me down

there was no good or bad guy in this story - my father was completely himself when he willingly lost all his money and his children's regard my mother never dreamed of overmastering the world they both made decisions about what life should be while i was incapable of deciding anything - what i wanted was so profoundly far away from what i was able to get
they say it doesn't help but it feels sort of nice to have somebody to blame i raised my hand with a capricious smile to point it at someone
